This past week, in the skies at the edge of our world, two very different stories unfolded at the same time. While one corner of space hosted a warm celebration, another faced a nail-biting race-against-time rescue mission. These are true stories that happened under the same sky.

International Astronauts Celebrate Thanksgiving on the ISS

A Feast Fit for Orbit

Imagine the most luxurious meal in orbit. On the International Space Station (ISS), astronauts from around the world set aside their demanding work to gather and celebrate Thanksgiving together. This year's menu was no ordinary affair—featuring plump lobster and hot turkey. But the sweetest touch? Cranberry sauce sent as a gift from the Russian side, proving that friendship remains beautiful no matter where you are.

The atmosphere grew even warmer when three new friends from Earth arrived aboard a Soyuz spacecraft just in time for dinner. The once-quiet space station transformed into a big house filled with laughter.

Shenzhou-22 Docks with Tiangong Space Station

A Heart-Pounding Situation at Tiangong

Cut to China's Tiangong Space Station, where the atmosphere was tense enough to take your breath away. The Shenzhou-20 spacecraft—the vehicle meant to bring three astronauts back to Earth—encountered a sudden crisis when it was struck by space debris, damaging its window and rendering the craft unusable. Simply put: the three astronauts had no way home.

But China stunned the world with an unexpected response. They launched a rescue spacecraft, Shenzhou-22, to replace the damaged vessel—with a total preparation time of just 16 days, a process that normally takes months. This lightning-fast rescue operation was a complete success, giving the astronauts a new "lifeboat" and bringing them back to safety.

Reflections from Above

These two stories remind us that space travel has many dimensions. There are moments of joy and impressive international cooperation, but also risks and unexpected events that require wisdom and courage to overcome. Whether it's a luxurious dinner or a heart-pounding rescue mission, these are the compelling stories from the sky that keep us watching and waiting for what comes next.
