LOS ANGELES – It appears the epic legal battle between former couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie is far from over, as Jolie's legal team has reportedly filed new documents in a Los Angeles court alleging Pitt's controlling behavior and financial abuse during their divorce negotiations.
The latest controversy stems from Château Miraval, a luxury winery and chateau in southern France that the couple bought together in 2008 and where their 2014 wedding took place. After the couple announced their separation in 2016, the winery became the center of a heated business dispute.
According to new court filings, Jolie's legal team claims that during negotiations to sell her share of the winery back to Pitt, Pitt tried to pressure Jolie into agreeing to an "unconscionable and overly broad " non-disclosure agreement (NDA) that would have kept Jolie from discussing personal matters outside of court, ultimately leading to the divorce.
The document alleges Pitt's actions were an attempt to "control and financially harm" Jolie, forcing her into an unfair settlement and tying her future to a painful past.
Brad Pitt had previously sued Angelina Jolie in 2022, alleging she secretly sold her stake in the winery to Tenute del Mondo , an affiliate of a Russian oligarch, without his consent, in violation of an agreement in which the two had promised not to sell their shares without the other's consent.
Jolie's new filing is therefore seen as a retaliatory move, revealing to the public the underlying reasons behind the collapse of their negotiations and the reason behind her decision to sell her shares to an outsider.
Brad Pitt has yet to comment on the latest allegations, but the legal battle over the winery is expected to continue to intensify and become yet another test of the fractured relationship between one of Hollywood's most powerful couples.
